Web OS TouchPad vs iPad - Still no iPad killer?
Many reviews of the new tablet released by HP which supposedly should become the next iPad killer weren’t so optimistic. Despite this some reviews wrote about a good first generation tablet which could significantly improved in next versions.
Hewlett-Packard’s Web OS tablet features a 9.7” display with a high resolution which equals iPads display. But the device itself is almost double thicker than Apple’s tablet. TouchPad is thick 13.7 mm while iPad 2 is only 8.8 mm. It is also heavier for some 140 grams.

Secret weapon: iPad 2
Singaporean Army plans to equip all new recruits with Apple’s latest model of iPad 2 tablet. According to Indian Times, Headquarters of Singaporean Armed Forces will include iPad 2 into standard equipment of every new soldier. Singaporean Department of Defence expect this move to be well received by well educated and technologically educated young soldiers.
Pope Benedict XVI tweets from an iPad!
The head of the Catholic church has started tweeting. His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI sent a tweet from the official Vatican news Twitter account for the first time. In his tweet it was announced that a new Catholic news portal will be launched soon. Interestingly this tweet was sent to the Twitter social network from an iPad.
Don’t you think it’s amazing that the Pope is actually using Apple’s iPad? It seems that Vatican is trying to keep the pace with the technological revolution we witness today. Recently they have launched a Facebook app called Pope2You and also an dedicated Youtube channel. They have even encouraged priests to use blogs to connect with the public.
Fring releases ipad app
Fringe has just released its app for iPad. Fring is interesting for ipad users as it has video calling which something most iPad users will want to have available on their devices. Even more so since this is the first free video calling app available on iPad. As we have written earlier, Skype is still testing its iPad app and Fring is probably trying capitalize on this fact with this early app release.

This health app was created by Victor Anastasiu and a team of developers. Beside iOS developers, Mr. Anastasiu also included in his team two mathematicians and a couple of dermatologists. Anastasiu and his team have gathered more than $70,000 in funding.
Apple working on iPhone Nano?
We all know Apple is working on a new iPhone model. Instead of launching the new model on WWDC earlier this month Apple has postponed its release for the fall, so the new iPhone should be available at the same time as the iOS 5 becomes officially released. The big question is: what kind of new iPhone will we see? Will it be something completely new as iPhone 5? Or just enhanced iPhone 4S?
Apple will prevent SHSH based iOS downgrades?
iPhone Dev Team is worried that Apple is trying to develop a way to prevent iOS firmware downgrading by using SHSH blobs. SHSH blobs are saved on Cydia servers if you chose to do so when you jailbreak your device. Alternatively you can use TinyUmbrella or some similar tool to save SHSH blobs. Developers from iPhone Dev Team think that this is connected with the new over the air upgrades changes in iOS, but this isn’t something cheerful for iPhone jailbreak users.
