Tethering app appears in Apple’s App Store
Today we heard a quite interesting bit of news from the Apple Store. It appears that Apple had somehow allowed a genuine tethering app into their App Store. This app will allow you to tether your devices through your iPhone without needing to jailbreak and use some Cydia app or using the usual way of getting a tethering package from your local network carrier. We are still not sure how did this happen actually. Is this simply a mistake by Apple’s censors, or is Apple sending a message to network carriers?
iOS security hole revealed
A serious security hole in Apple’s iOS fortress has just being discovered bu renowned security expert Charlie Miller. The vulnerability enables apps which are downloaded from the official App Store to download and run harmful code from any remote third party computer. This app which Charlie Miller uploaded successfully to App Store by circumventing Apple security policies and checks, behaves like any regular app displaying stock informations, but it was able to download code from distant computer and run selected commands therefore becoming able to steal user files without any permission.
Microsoft will open Windows 8 App Store soon?
You know that you are doing things fabulously if others, even those which really don’t like you follow your lead. Apple can be sure its doing great job as nowadays everyone wants to create an iPhone and iPad “killer” like Samsung, HTC and others. App Store’s success is also increasingly becoming a lure and a model for others like Amazon, which are trying to emulate App Store’s success. So now Microsoft is also announcing that they will have an App Store for their upcoming Windows 8 OS.
New ball themed game launched in the App Store
Despite its name this isn’t your usual sports themed game. “A Game With Balls” is more of a strategy game which works on both iPhone and iPad. In this game balls will be your opponents and your goal is to brush them aside with your cannon. They will fail from the sky and you will have to perfect your shooting and calculations of physical reactions by balls which can destroy your little cannon.
More than 15 billion apps downloaded from iTunes
Apple reported recently that their iTunes App Store has served downloading of more than 15 billion apps by iPhone, iPod and iPad users around the globe. Currently iTunes App Store has more than 420,000 apps in different categories like: games, productivity, health, education and much more. Only for iPad, which is a fairly new device there are already more than 100,000 different apps.
Facebook launches new app store?
Facebook plans something great in the next couple of days, says Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook. This new project by Facebook designers and engineers could be almost anything ranging from a new mobile app to a new option on the Facebook website. But after recent rumors about new Facebook app for iPad, we think this could be easily the new great product of Facebook to reach users.
The new Facebook app fro iPad has been extensively tested for a couple of months, and according to latest rumors it is now ready for a launch. This app should make extensive use of iPads unique hardware including its large display and high quality cameras. It could be easily something more than what we are used to with the website and iPhone app. As you probably know, Facebook app for iPhone was launched long time ago. There are some other improvements available too including, a redesign of Facebook groups and Facebook chat. A heavy emhasisi has been made on the touch screen capabilities of iPad too.
App Store trademark lawsuit: Apple Inc. v. Amazon.com Inc.
Cupertino, California based Apple has again taken offensive stance against it competitors, and they have taken the offensive to the court of law. In a latest barrage of lawsuits and counter lawsuits Apple has taken on Amazon for alleged trademark infringement charges. Steve Jobs legal team has asked for court order banning Amazon from using the words App Store while waiting for the results of the lawsuit.
Meanwhile Amazon has claimed that App Store is only a generic term and not suitable for granting exclusive rights. And even more there is no way that Apple could demonstrate, users are being confused by two similarly named services. The clear difference according to Amazon is that Apple sells only iOS apps in their store.
