Cydia on iOS 4.3.1 - some packages not working?

After the recent Apple iOS upgrade to version 4.3.1 and following the release of jailbreak tools like PwnageTool, RedSn0w and Sn0wBreeze some users had problems with apps on their iPhones and iPads. A number of apps crashed and it seems that the list of app which are not compatible with the upgrade is constantly growing. So far it seems that users using apps relying on software packages like Action Menu and Backgrounder should not upgrade iOS until this is solved.

How to jailbreak iPhone 3GS with 4.3.1 firmware version with Pwnage Tool on Mac OS X

1. Make a new folder on the desktop of your Mac computer. Download Pwnage tool version 4.3 from here. Also download the iPhone 3GS 4.3.1 firmware from here. You should download the firmware file with Firefox browser as some other browsers like Safari usually rename the file deeming it unusable for restoring.

2. Click twice on the PwnageTool file to extract it and move it to your new desktop folder. Click on the Pwnage tool to fire up the software tool.

Redsn0w jailbreak for iPhone on iOS 4.3.1!

We are happy to announce: developers from the famous iPhone Dev Tem have finally released an untethered jailbreak for most recent Apple iOS 4.3.1 for windows RedSn0w version 0.9.6rc9 and Pwnage Tools version 4.3. Only jailbreak for iPad 2 is not supported at this moment.

Important! If you need to unlock with UltraSn0w do not use RedSn0w jailbreak! Using RedSn0w will upgrade your baseband which means that you wont be able to unlock your iPhone as new basebands cant be unlocked at this time.

Unlock iPhone 3GS with UltraSn0w Fixer for UltraSn0w

As we wrote previously and you all know Apple has seeded their new iOS upgrade 4.3.1. This upgrade was meant to prevent jailbreak and unlock for iPhones and iPads but luckily jailbreak developers are working hard to provide jailbreak and unlock solutions for all iPhone users out there. Dev Team has previously provided the Pwnage tool 4.2 which can jailbreak 4.3 iOS firmware and another iPhone jailbreak developer named DjayB6 has jumped in with some upgrades for Pwnage Tool (so called Pwnage Tool 4.3.1 bundle) which enables this version of the jailbreak tool to jailbreak even iPhones on iOS 4.3.1. Pwnage tool is Mac only jailbreak tool, but windows version should also be available soon.

iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak exploit in development

After showing his jailbreak of an iPod on 4.3.1 with the latest Apple iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak developer Stefan Esser has publicly revealed that he gave his exploit to the famous iPhone Dev Team. At this moment hey are working on a beta version of the jailbreak.

When the iPhone Dev Team members conclude the jailbreak is stable enough they will use it in one of the already available software tools like Pwnage Tools or RedSn0w before they make it available to the jailbreak users.

UltraSn0w unlock for iPhones 4.3.1 with older baseband versions

We are happy to say: the new Sn0wbreeze version 2.4 works great with the UltraSn0w unlock solution for iPhone users who have preserved the baseband on their iPhones. Unlock will work for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. iPhone 3G is not supported for upgrade to 4.3 iOS.

In order to unlock the iPhone you will need to jailbreak it first.

Here are steps needed to unlock your iPhone for use on other network carriers:

- iPhone basebands supported by the UltraSn0w unlock solution: 6.15.00, 05.13.04, 01.59.00, 05.12.01, 04.26.08 and 05.11.07

It is great to hear that the brand new iOS upgrade 4.3.1 is already jailbroken. Apple has provided this upgrade for iPhone, iPod and iPad and DjayB6 has provided the necessary jailbreak bundle and Universal RamdiskFixer. Unfortunately the jailbreak is a tethered one. To remind you tethered jailbreaks means that you will have to boot up your iPhone with the jailbreak tool to successfully use your iPhone again. Also this will at this moment work only for iPhone 4 but the jailbreak for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch should also be available soon.

iOS 4.3 for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 released!

Apple has just released th 4.3.1 iOS update. This update is made for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and as we previously wrote it is mainly a bug solving upgrade. How can you upgrade if you cant wait to do so? Quite easy, just fire up your iTunes ( check that it is upgraded to latest version itself) then click Check Updates and you are done!

So this update is unfortunately not eligible for iPhone 3G as its hardware would be to slow for this iOS version (many users claim so since after the introduction of 4.x iOS). It also isn’t meant for Verizon iPhone 4.
