Jailbreaking guide: Untethered Jailbreak for your iPhone with Sn0wbreeze 2.5
Famous jailbreak developer iH8sn0w has been really quick with his upgrades for Sn0wbreeze jailbreaking tool for Windows computers. With the new upgraded version of Sn0wbreeze 2.5 you will be able to enable untethered jailbreak on your iPhone 4 / 3gS, iPad and iPad Touch. Sn0wbreeze can also jailbreak Apple TV 2G. Another advantage of Sn0wbreeze is that it can preserve your baseband if you need to unlock using UltraSn0w unlocking solution.
Jailbreak your iPhone with the simple steps described bellow.
Note: Sn0wbreeze 2.5 is Windows only toll. If you are using a Mac computer you will need to follow the instructions for PwnageTool version 4.3.
First you will need to download following files:
- iTunes 10.2.1
-Apple iOS 4.3.1 firmware
Jailbreaking steps:
1. Make a folder on your desktop and name it Sn0wBreeze. Download Sn0wBreeze and 4.3.1 IPSW file to this folder. Double click Sn0wBreeze to launch the application. Read warnings and click on “Next”.
2. Sn0wBreeze will now prompt you to point it to the previously saved iOS firmware IPSW file. It will be in the Sn0wBreeze folder on your computers desktop. Click “Next”.
Sn0wBreeze will now try to identify your firmware file. When it recognizes the file again click on Next.
3. Please choose the Expert Mode and click on blue arrow to continue the process.
4. Choose “Build IPSW” and proceed by pressing on the blue arrow again.
Sn0wBreeze will now start building the custom firmware iOS 4.3.1 file for your iPhone (or other iDevice).
5. When the Sn0wBreeze finishes building the custom IPSW file, it will show you the instructions for entering your iPhone into DFU (device firmware update) mode.
To enter your device into the DFU mode:
Plug iPhone into the computer.
Press and hold Home and Power buttons on the iPhone. Hold it for 10 seconds.
Release Power button but keep holding Home for 10seconds more. Your iPhone is now into DFU mode and the screen on it is black.
When your iPhone is recognized as a device into DFU mode. Sn0wBreeze will show you this message:
6. Start iTunes (do not forget to update it to the latest version which currently is 10.2.1 ). Press and hold the left Shift key on your keyboard and choose “Restore”. Browse to the recently created custom iOS 4.3.1 firmware and wait until your iPhone is restored.
Once your iPhone is restored it will be jailbroken on firmware 4.3.1 and your baseband will be preserved. You will see a Cydia icon on your Home screen where you can download and install some great free and paid apps.
If you are on unlockable baseband you can proceed to unlock your iPhone with the UltraSn0w unlock.
