The makers of Gevey sim card have recently announced that the device can unlock even the iPhone 4S, the latest and best iPhone so far. It works on devices running on firmware 5.0. and 5.0.1. Devices which are upgraded on iOS 5.1 cant be unlocked at this moment with Gevey sim card. But according to the company they are busy working on the unlocking solution for iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1. Apple stops signing iOS 5.0.1 firmware

It had to happen sooner or later, and indeed, Apple did pull the curtain,so sadly you cant sign the iOS 5.0.1 for your devices anymore. The windows for this is officially closed today by Apple. Any A5 based iOS device like iPad 2 or iPhone 4S, will now have to stay on the new iOS 5.1 if you already upgraded to this firmware. And sadly not even SHSH blobs wont help you with this downgrading.

Dev Team upgrades RedSn0w, iOS 5.1 now supported

Only a day after Apple has launched the iOS 5.1 into the world, the jailbreak developers in iPhone Dev Team have officially released an update to RedSn0w jailbreak tool. This version of the software, RedSn0w 0.9.10b6 is a tethered jailbreak, and works only for A4 powered iOS devices. So if you have an iPad 2 or iPhone 4S you are out of luck at the time being. The same version of RedSn0w can also jailbreak the older 5.0.1 firmware, so there is no need to jump ahead and upgrade your device immediately. In fact you are advised not to upgrade your firmware version before an untethered jailbreak is released. This is the advice which was given by the Dev Team. Also, be advised: no important changes have been detected so far with iOS 5.1.
