Apple blocks untethered Corona jailbreak with iOS 5.1 beta 3
We have waited for some long time for a stable and reliable untethered jailbreak for iOS devices runnig iOS 5. The jailbreak was finally developed and released only recently, at the end of the last year. It has enabled a excellent untethered jailbreak for all iOS devices, with exception of devices with A5 processors such as iPad 2 tablet and the latest iPhone 4S. Sadly it seems that it didn’t take too long for Apple’s engineers to patch the exploit which enables Corona jailbreak to work. A number of jailbreak developers have confirmed that the jailbreak isn’t working anymore with the beta 3 version of iOS 5.1. Keep in mind that the same exploit is being used in the latest version of RedSn0w jailbreak, so the same thing applies for this jailbreak too.
At the time being, iOS 5.1 is still in a early testing phase, so it will probably take some time before Apple officially launches it. But since this is already the third beta version, nobody knows for sure when exactly will Apple seed it. While there is no official confirmation coming from the iPhone Dev Team or the Chronic Dev Team about this issue, you should probably do well to stay away from this upgrade. If you still didn’t upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 we advise you to do so and grab your version of the untethered jailbreak, while this is still so simple and possible. Apple will probably soon prevent upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 after 5.1 firmware is pushed out.
As a side reminder, if you are a proud owner of an A5 device, meaning iPad 2 or iPhone 4S, you should as well stay away from this upgrade if you would like to jailbreak your device in a reasonable time frame. According to the latest rumors, jailbreak for this devices is also close but it will work for you only if you stay on the current iOS version. So stay tight, watch your steps and follow the news closely as we will inform you an any and all jailbreak news!
