Apple working on two new different iPad tablets?
After different rumors on a possible new 7.85” iPad tablet, we now heard another rumor mentioning at least two new models, coming with larger screens of 9.7” which will have QXGA graphic resolution and a unique light bar design. According to this rumor, which isn’t convincing in our opinion, these iPad models could be announced on 26 January already, at Apple’s annual iWorld event. Some analysts claim Apple’s strategy is based on forking out their tablet products to cover wide range of users. Essentially, Apple wants to announce different tablets which should cover entry, middle and high end market segments.
Major suppliers for Apple’s tablet hardware include Sharp which provides BLU (backlight units) as well as Samsung and LG. Sharp will probably become the most important tablet hardware supplier, while the importance of Samsung in this area, will probably slowly decline as recent patent wars indicate that Apple isn’t happy with Samsung at all.
Samsung is currently still responsible for manufacturing A6 processors, which will be the base for the next iPad models. As you probably know, the original iPad is using A4 processors, while iPad 2 features A5. This could also mean Apple could slash the prices of some tablet models, so they could compete with the recently launched Kindle Fire tablet. All in all, is seems that Apple is preparing for some nice releases in 2012. Are you eager to get a new tablet? Let us know your plans in the comments section of our blog.
