Cydia tweaks: Send my Location

Send my location tweak for iPhone on iOS 4 and iOS 5

Both iOS 5 and new iPhone 4S have introduced a plethora of new and exciting capabilities, but jailbreak developers didn’t stop there as they are busy as ever and working hard to improve whatever can be improved. Here is another feature which is lacking or not developed sufficiently in the official iOS 5 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Send my Location is a new jailbreak tweak which enables users to quickly share their geolocation with others via SMS messages. When you use this tweak your contacts can simply open the URL which they receive within a text message from you where they can see your current location within the iOS maps app. A similar service is available with iOS 5 but so far it only works as an opt-in service, so you have to allow access if you want to allow others to find you. With this new Cydia tweak you don’t have to opt-in so it can be a useful tool for your iPhone location needs!

Send my Location is compatible with iOS 4 and iOS 5 and after a short testing it seems that it works perfectly, although it would be nice if it could be customized a little bit. This tweak is really great, especially for people who are rarely exploring new areas and don’t have a great sense for direction. You can get this tweak for free but you must add BigBoss repository to your Cydia list of sources. Since it is a Cydia tweak only, you’ll have to jailbreak your device if you decide you want it. You can easily jailbreak your iPhone with RedSn0w for Mac or Windows PC. All relevant guides and instructions can be found in our blog archives. Keep in mind that jailbreak for iOS 5 is still a tethered one.
