iOS sculpting app for iPad

Here is another interesting app which pushes the limits of use for iOS devices. This time it is an artistic app created by Autodesk, a software company best known for their AutoDesk which is a 3D designing software application. So Autodesk is an company with rich designing experiences and this time they have made an designing app named 123D Sculpt which caters to a artist which is hidden in almost everyone of us.

123D Sculpt will enable you to create a 3D object in a way similar to what a real sculptor does with his sculpting clay. It was created as an iPad only app and it supports multi touch gesturing so you can use all fingers to model your virtual clay in any form you like. For a budding newbie sculptor, you can use a couple of already made models of cars, animals and random geometrical objects.

When you get an idea of what to make, you can start using a number of different tools to work with your clay. You can choose to pull, pinch, smooth your clay and a number of other operations. If your design requests it you can even add some textures to your model. A nice feature is that you can take a photo from your collection and use it a s a sort of texture. When you finish wit your sculpting project you can export it to some practical format like PNG for example. Unfortunately at this time you cant export your design to some 3D format.

This app isn’t meant for real artists only. Instead it will enable even those of us who never tried out sculpting to try playing with this artistic form. Perhaps if you really enjoy it with this app you can try the real deal and sculpt your model in a real clay? 123D Sculpt is available in Apple App Store and is a free download. You can purchase more goodies for the app through in app purchases.
