Jailbreak for Apple TV coming soon!

We wrote previously wrote about the release of the GreenPois0n untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS iphone 4, iPod Touch and iPad with the new 4.2.1 firmware.

Although some bugs were already encountered, greenpois0n brought a great improvement in the jailbreaking area and a huge advance for all users in need of the jailbreak and unlock.

But until yet one device was still not supported. The Apple TV 2G was not yet jailbroken with GreenPois0n.
Luckily things are changing in a good direction. The group known as the Chronic Dev Team has acknowledged that they are working on a new jailbreak tool for the Apple TV. They expect to release the new version of the GreenPois0n and that it will enable untethered jailbreak for the Apple TV with 4.2.1 firmware.

One member of the group known as p0sixninja, said that they have a member nicknamed nitoTV who has almost finished the work on jailbreaking Apple TV. Also the readme file in GreenPois0n was changed and the notion of support for Apple TV was inserted.

Here is a @p0sixninja tweet about this:

“Starting on rc6 now, including apple tv support! nitotv has already done most of the work.”
Chronic Dev team has not reveled when will the new GreenPois0n version be available, but the good thing is that they are actually working on it and having some great progress.

So we are still waiting for the untethered jailbreak for Apple TV.

It is best to wait for this jailbreak, but if instead you want to use a tethered jailbreak you can do so with the GreenPois0n RC5 on Windows and OSX.
