Ultrasn0w unlock software

ultrasn0w

Ultrasn0w was first launched as an unlock tool for the iPhone with 3.0 iOS firmware.

The ultrasn0w was released in the June of 2009 and was developed and released by the famous hacker group Dev Team.

You can see the Youtube announcement of the unlock in the video bellow. It was made by the member of the Dev Team known by his nickname @Musclenerd

What is Ultrasn0w?

Ultrasn0w is the software tool which is used for the carrier unlocking for your iPhone. To be able to use the ultrasn0w unlock you must first jailbreak your iPhone. The jailbreak and unlock will depend on the model and the firmware version of your iPhone.

Most current versions of the jailbreak are two tools. First one is Redsn0w which offers jailbreak up to iOS 4.2.1 and the other is Greenpois0n which also offers jailbreak up to the 4.2.1 firmware. Greenpois0n is currently a better choice if you want to jailbreak, as it can provide you with an untethered jailbreak. Untethered jailbreak means that you can reboot your iPhone without the help of your computer. On the other side if you use Redsn0w to jailbreak every time you reboot (like if your battery dies) you must reboot with the help of the same Redsn0w application.

After you successfully jailbreak your iPhone you will have access to Cydia. It will appear on your springboard. Cydia is an installer which is enabling you to install app’s from other sources instead of doing it only through iTunes app store. In Cydia you can get both free app’s and you can purchase app’s, same as in iTunes.

When you see you have Cydia on the springboard of your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad you can now add the Ultrasn0w repository. Repository is in fact an online server containing software packages you need (app’s). You will need to add this source to your Cydia http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com

When you add this repo, please return to Cydia and tap repo666, choose Ultrasn0w and install it. Your iPhone is now unlocked for use on other carriers.

Make sure not to accidentally update the iOS version on your iPhone.
