iBooks fix for jailbroken iOS 5

ibooks ios5 jailbreak fix by iH8sn0w

Famous jailbreak developer @H8sn0w shows iBooks working on iPhone running iOS 5.
Whenever Apple releases a new iOS version and jailbreak developers respond with a new jailbreak solution things tend to be not fully compatible and 100% working at the beginning. There are always some small issues appearing along some minor bugs which are so to say almost inevitable in such circumstances. Even big names such as Apple, Google and Microsoft have bugs and glitches appearing in their products, so it’s not a wonder such things happen to a group of highly skilled enthusiast in the jailbreak community.

When Apple seeded iOS 5 recently, the jailbreak was quickly released to the public. RedSn0w and Sn0wBreeze had both initially experienced problems with such bugs. One issue which was problematic to many iPhone users interested in reading ebooks is the problem with iBooks. Namely iBooks didn’t work anymore for users which have jailbroken their iOS 5 devices.
But now @iH8sn0w has released a video where he demoed iBooks use on jailbroken iOS 5 device. He went even further, as he explained how to get the same results on your own iPhone.

Here is how iH8sn0w describes this process. The problem was apparently in how jailbreak executed sandbox patching within the kernel. Sandbox, to explain it a bit to non techies is a certain security measure which blocks various apps like Safari browser from accessing sensitive system files in iOS. In addition iH8sn0w says that this fix is not a permanent one. An improved and stable fix is something iH8sn0w is still working on, and it should become available rather soon. Perhaps his efforts by iH8sn0w will inspire other jailbreak developers to give a helping hand and roll out the stable jailbreak iBooks fix much earlier.
