iPhone remote controlled toys: Sphero

If you like great but basically useless gadgets controlled by your iPhone or iPad here is another expensive toy for you. Sphero is an interesting ball which roles around your room controlled by your iPhone or iPad. You can connect to this robotic ball with bluetooth connection. The ball itself can be charged on a stand which powers the device through induction charging.

Sphero is made by Orbotix, a company which has already made a bunch of interesting iOS apps which can be used together with this ball for more fun. For example there is Sphero golf where you can play golf with your friends or Kitty cam which you can use to play with your cat. Sphero will be available later this year but the price for this small robot ball is somewhat prohibitive. Who will be willing to pay for a ball $130, even if it is a remotely controlled one? We have previously written about iPhone controlled helicopters and such, and at least to us it certainly looks like more fun. Even more so if it is much more affordable at only $60. In any case if you are an iPhone owner there are many ways and toys you can use to have fun! If there is some remote controlled toy you particularly like, let us know so we can write more about it on our blog.

Here is a video of Sphero in action.
