How to fix error when restoring to iOS 5.1.1
While jailbreaking is in most cases a safe and a simple process, a number of users sometimes experience errors, especially when trying to restore their devices. One of such nuisances is when you get the “iPhone cannot be restored” error. To make it clear: this wont appear any time you try to restore to iOS 5.1.1, but only in some particular cases. If you have encounter the same problem here is what you should do. The same solution should work for error 3194 and error 11 as well.

Absinthe 2.0 jailbreak now available for download!
And yes! A new jailbreak is once more available to all iOS device users! Another cycle of iOS upgrade followed by a new jailbreak tool is over. Absinthe 2.0 by Chronic Dev team has made a new, untethered jailbreak a reality for all iPhone and iPad users. We have anticipated this jailbreak news for a long time already, as a large number of iPhone users have been stuck between their upgraded devices and the lack of an appropriate jailbreaking tool. Its is a great thing that Dev Team and other individual jailbreak developers have been able to so quickly and efficiently solve the obstacles thrown in front of them by Apple.
Untetehred jailbreak on the way
One of the most prominent members of the Dev team, @Pod2g has announced that the iPad 3 compatibility has been included into the Absinthe jailbreak tool. This means that Dev Team needs to add only the iPad 2 support to the tool before it is ready for the release. To finish this, they actually need an iPad 2 tablet. Thus they ask jailbreak community and its supporters, to provide them with a testing device. They would need an iPad 2 with a model number MC 954 or MC 989. To learn which device model you have, you can go to the Settings app > General > About.
Jailbreak experts: you can upgrade to 5.1.1 firmware now!
@Pod2g has publicly confirmed: those of you who are eager to jump over to iOS 5.1.1 can do so without worries, but only if yo do not need a carrier unlock! Go ahead and upgrade your device through iTunes. Please take care: if you upgrade, you could loose the unlock option, possibly for a long time! To keep the unlock available for your device you will need to upgrade and protect the current baseband version at the same time. This is possible with some jailbreaking tools like PwnageTools, RedSn0w and Sn0wBreeze.
Untethered jailbreak for iPhone on 5.1.1 firmware [video]
Someone has just posted the video with a demonstration of the latest jailbreak for the latest iOS 5.1.1 firmware version. Finally this jailbreak is an untethered version. This time it represents basically an updated version of Absinthe jailbreak tool, version 2.0.
Absinthe 2.0 was tested on an iPhone 4 upgraded to 5.1.1 firmware. The jailbreak went smoothly and the recorded video is a proof that the jailbreak really works as promised. Dev Team members have announced the public release of the jailbreak in a couple of days. Meanwhile you can see the video of Absinthe 2.0 in action.
Tethered jailbreak for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad [iOS 5.1.1]
Here is the tethered jailbreak for all A4 based iOS devices, we have been waiting for so long! We wrote earlier that the jailbreak is in the final phase and luckily for us and many other iPhone and iPad users, we now have a tethered jailbreak, courtesy of the iPhone Dev Team.
RedSn0w 0.9.11 beta4 is based on the previous jailbreak for 5.1. firmware and ads some new options like stitching the blobs and making custom firmware version. This is especially important as it allows users to upgrade without the baseband update. This is of critical importance for all unlockers: if you upgrade the baseband you could loose the carrier unlock, perhaps forever.
Guide: iPhone 4S downgrading [RedSn0w 0.9.11b2]
Here is another great tool for iPhone users. If you know anything about the iOS, iPhone and related terms, you will probably know how many users unintentionally upgrade their devices. While upgrading the iOS, is in most cases a good thing to do, if you really relay on your jailbreak and unlock, you will need to be real careful with those upgrades. Whenever you upgrade your device, you will loose booth your jailbreak and your carrier unlock. In some places this will make your device loose its connectivity altogether. A true nightmare, one which we have seen many times. The same thing has now happened to many iPhone 4S users which have mistakenly upgraded their devices. Luckily, the jailbreak community isn’t really willing to accept this.. Therefore they have again developed the technology which enables users to downgrade their iOS devices back to earlier version of the iOS. To remind you: iPhone 4S and iPad 2 can be jailbroken if on iOS 5.0.1.
Jailbreakers will be able to downgrade iPhone 4S and iPad with upcoming RedSn0w release

The condition is of course that you have saved the SHSH blobs previously.
