RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 jailbreak for Windows PC launched!

We wrote recently about the new RedSn0w jailbreak for iOS 5 for iPhone iPad and iPod Touch. The jailbreak was available only for Mac computers as it contans some new capabilities earlier available only with PwnageTools, which is Mac only app. Now iPhone Dev Team has released the Windows PC version of RedSn0w enabling PC owners to enjoy the same capabilities for easy jailbreaking of their iOS devices. This is a mayor upgrade for RedSn0w and it offer some nice new features. It also offers a solution for the location services on iPhone 3GS for users which have upgraded their devices to iPad baseband 06.15.00 because of the carrier unlock.

RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 is a tethered jailbreak solution, so be prepared to use RedSn0w whenever you need to restart your device. RedSn0w can now automatically find the iOS 5 firmware. Basically RedSn0w has been upgraded both technically and cosmetically as the user interface is more user friendly and intuitive this time.

If your device is already jailbroken you can run RedSn0w over the previous jailbreak. To do so just click on the “Jailbreak” option but please don’t select to install Cydia. If you are among owners of iPhone 3GS with the old bootroom select the IPSW before you proceed as RedSn0w can’t locate this firmware version yet.

RedSn0w 0.9.9b6 can be downloaded here.
You can use it to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad on iOS 5. After you jailbreak it you can use either UltraSn0w or Gevey sim card if you need to carrier unlock your iPhone.
