Cydia tweaks: CallBar notification system
Here is another tweak which was created thanks to Ryan Petrich’s awesome Tweak Week challenge. CallBack is a new tweak which improves the idea of iOS notifications for calls and other notifications. As many of you are already aware, standard iOS notification system was for a long time one of the weakest parts of iOS, and for long time such way for notifications lagged considerably behind better solutions on Android and WebOS devices. CallBar introduces what iOS 5 is preparing for in this area, a simple and a nonintrusive mean of receiving calls.

So far no official confirmations have come from Jef Bezzos CEO of Amazon about this, but according to the news from electronics manufacturing strongholds in Taiwan, there is no doubt that Amazon will soon launch a new device to the market, most probably during the third quarter of this year.

Advice from jailbreak developers: do not upgrade the firmware to 4.3.5!
Apple has just released its latest iOS upgrade to firmware 4.3.5 which came as a surprise to iPhone and iPad users as much as to jailbreak developers. This update wont be followed by an untethered jailbreak as Apple could repeat the upgrading efforts soon again. SO instead all users wanting an untethered and stable jailbreak should do well if they don’t accept this firmware upgrade.
You can also see the warning coming from Muscle Nerd who often talks for the iPhone Dev Team. Here is the warning in his Twitter stream.
Apple seeds iOS 4.3.5 (GSM) and iOS 4.2.1 (CDMA)
After recently releasing iOS 45.3..4 in a hurry to patch up the JailbreakMe hack, Apple has again released a quick upgrade for all iDevices on GSM and CDMA networks. The aim of this update is to fix certain security vulnerabilities as well as issues appearing with specific certificate validations. Apparently Apple’s engineers have find out that a malicious attacker with network privileges can gain or change data while in SSL sessions. The problems comes while handling the so called X. 509 certifications.
iPhone as an microscope: CellScope project
After measuring your blood pressure, checking out your eyes for glaucoma and other medical purposes it seems that your iPhone has another medical use. Scientists and engineers at UC Berkeley have constructed a project which will enable capturing microscopic images with your smartphone. Previously the device supported other smartphone devices but now we have the attachment for iPhone 4 available too. In medicine, microscopes are essential for diagnostic purposes and for treatments too. For almost any diagnostic process your doctor will want to check your blood samples, but this isn’t really available in most parts of the world. Because of this, Cellscope project has been developed to assist medical doctors and patients in the third world with world class equipment for analyzing microscopic data.
Apple goes against fake Apple Stores in China
We wrote a couple of days ago about fake Apple stores appearing around some cities in China, and we said that Apple wont wait for to long to take action against this. And we were right. Steve Jobs and his team have no intention to leave their image and image of Apple stores to be diminished. After some moves behind the scene Chinese government is now acting swiftly and started an investigation about the issue . Apparently it seems that a number of customers of this fake Apple stores demanded refund although the sold products were really Apple made devices. So far already two of these illegal stores have been closed by authorities. Those stores located in Kunming, Yunnan province which were closed down have been so audacious that they even used Apple’s logos around their store. Hilariously it appears they even haven’t had proper business permits and licenses for selling their merchandise.
Google against jailbreakers: Google plus bans MuscleNerd!
Google has made a move which could turn off many iPhone users on their social network. MuscleNerd one of the most famous jailbreak devs has been banned by Google Plus because he used his nickname which is apparently not allowed on the network as they demand their users to use real names. There were also other highly profiled cases like this before, like when recently Google Plus removed a user which named himself Anonymous from the network.
Unauthorized, fake Apple store appear in China
We have recently heard about something new going on in China. It appears that some unscrupulous entrepreneur is starting what appears to be fake Apple stores. There are already a couple of such stores in Kinming, a large city in the Yunnan area. Even the employees working there are convinced that they work in real Apple stores. In fact the whole store and employee outfit reminds so closely to Apple stores that there is almost no visible difference.
