Apple’s latest wonder Siri suffers from outages

iPhone 4S, the latest iPhone model launched recently features Siri, which could be the biggest thing in tech world this year. Siri is an voice assistance app which proved as a great tool for iPhone 4S owners in many different and unsuspected areas. But it seems that now Apple has encountered some kind of problems, as the app suffers from long outages. How is this issue manifesting itself? Simply: if you ask Siri some question and receive the vague answer to try to reconnect to the network, you’ll know something is wrong. First reports came in from users on Thursday and the outage still continues at the time we wrote this.

iOS 5 beta released to fix for battery lifetime for iPhone 4S

Apple has publicly acknowledged the battery issue which appeared on many new iPhone 4S devices. They have also said that a task force of engineers is working on a permanent solution for this problem. According to their statement they have found a possible bug in IOS 5 which can shorten the battery lifetime and a solution for this will be available in the next iOS update which should be available to iOS 5 users in next couple of weeks.

Apple releases the first TV advertisement featuring iPhone 4S and Siri

Apple has just published the first TV commercial focusing exclusively on the latest iPhone model, the iPhone 4S and Siri which is its revolutionary voice assistant app. You can see different people in add using Siri in various situations: running, listening to music, asking questions, scheduling meetings and fulfilling many other needs but all with the help of Siri.

Siri is as you probably know officially available only with iPhone 4S although there are rumors about jailbreak developers working on porting the app to previous iPhone models. Interestingly, Siri is not visually presented at the beginning of the ad, so it probably wont be clear to many people what the point of the commercial really is, besides the fact that an iPhone is a great tool.

iPhone 4S compatible with Russian GPS system (GLONASS)

As Apple becomes a dominant superpower in the world of mobile computing, they are increasingly working on deploying systems compatible with local technologies in different parts of the globe. To achieve this they have added an additional layer for navigations needs called GLONASS. GLONASS is a Russian (Soviet actually) global satellite navigation system, the Soviet equivalent of well known GPS. GLONASS represents a radio satellite navigation network owned by Russia and run by Russian Space command. It is a less known and used alternative to US controlled Global Positioning System aka GPS. There are also some other satellite based systems for navigation in development like the Chinese and EU Galileo navigation systems.

Four million iPhone 4S devices purchased during the first three days!

Apple has publicly stated that iPhone 4S has already been sold in more than four million units after only three days after the official launch. Tom Cook and his team are obviously quite satisfied with the results achieved so far. And this is indeed a record breaking achievement. No other smartphone was sold in such volume in such short time including previous iPhone models.
