Untethered jailbreak coming soon to iOS 5
As the launch of iOS 5 and iPhone 4S is closer every day, many iPhone and iPad users wonder about whether the tethered jailbreak will be available any time soon. If you are a frequent reader on our blog you will know that every beta version of iOS 5 was followed by an updated version of the jailbreak. Unfortunately every jailbreak for iOS 5 beta so far was only an untethered version. Of course this isn’t particularly important to experienced jailbreakers, as they are quite willing to endure any problem if the jailbreak depends on it. But when it comes to average non techie iPhone users, things look a bit differently. Any and all obstacles which come with jailbreaking and they are few of them, can hinder and prevent users from jailbreaking.
Apple to unveil Assistant within iOS 5?
Rumors about the big release event for Apple’s new iPhone have never been so interesting and at the same time contradicting as we all expect to see what exactly will Apple release this time. Most users expect to see a new iPhone model, but could it be that a new iPhone model could be only a small issue if compared with something else Apple wants to show us? Apparently a new voice control system should be a part of iOS 5. This new feature, named by some Apple fans as Assistant could introduce a whole new level to what Apple and iPhone is about. It has the potential of changing the way we interact with our iOS devices. First there was a multitouch screen and now there is Assistant, a voice interaction system which could change the world of computing as much as touchscreens did.
Apple bans employee vacations
It seems that Apple has blacked out all employee vacations for two timetables which could indicate the dates of release for the upcoming iPhone 5 and the new iOS 5. First blackout dates are supposedly from October 9th up to 12th and this will probably be the release date for iOS 5, and is rumored to be held on Monday, since October 12th is Sunday. Another rumor has also pointed out that Apple Care centers have been instructed to prepare for large increase of customer support calls during the same day.
MyWi tethering gets updated, now supports iOS 5
Many jailbreak tweaks and apps have being upgraded these days as developers struggle to keep a pace with Apple and upgrade their apps for upcoming iOS 5 which will very soon become the standard iOS for most devices. This time an app called MyWi, a widely popular app for tethering has just being upgraded to support iOS 5. So if you didn’t upgrade or install this app you can now try it out. MyWi can be found and installed with Cydia, meaning that you have to jailbreak your device before you can use this tethering app. You can test it out for free for 3 days and if you find it as useful as many other iPhone owners have, you can purchase it for $19,99. Not a small price but certainly worth considering.
iPhone Dev team releases RedSn0w update
As we are nearing the date of iPhone 5 release, iPhone jailbreak devs are busy preparing a jailbreak for the upcoming iOS 5. Their goal is obviously to be ready whenever iOS 5 becomes officially available for downloading. Also like in previous cases, they are always trying to upgrade and improve any and all possible angles of the jailbreaking process. This is one of the main goals of this new RedSn0w upgrade: to make it easier and smoother for anyone to jailbreak. And indeed Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 is introducing many new features. We wrote yesterday about MuscleNerd announcing the release of the improved RedSn0w jailbreak and now it just became available for all iPhone users. Here are new features of this jailrbeak tool according to iPhone Dev team.
First iPhone 5 launch conference to be held by Apple in first week of October
Apple will apparently held their first iPhone release press conference in the first week of October. A source inside Cupertino California company revealed that there will be a first press conference on Apple’s new hardware product, the iPhone 5. Apple’s new product should reach stores couple of days later. This is approximately what many including us have guessed to be the release date for iPhone 5 – October 15th.
Apple to tie iCloud and iTunes login data?
Many Apple users have been frustrated by the fact that different elements in Apple system demand different login credentials. Compare this to the fact that you can access any Google service with just one identity and you will understand why this is not received particularly well by Apple users.
But as the launching date for iOS 5 and iPhone 5 gets closer Apple might rethink this strategy. As you probably know if you read our blog frequently, iOS will feature some exiting new and not so new features like full iCloud integration, Game Center, FaceTime, iTunes and so on. For any of those services you need to have a separate user login, but now according to a new rumor Apple is preparing a launch of a completely new Apple ID system.
Apple prepares their Apple Store staff for the launch of iOS 5 and iCloud
Most famous Cupertino company has started training their Store personel about iOS 5 and iCloud according to latest Apple rumors. The trainig is supposedly taken through their own corporate app called Retail Me.
In previous cases Apple has always connected the release of their hardware with a launch of a new iOS version. And more often than not training of their sales force was done just in time before the product launch, which in most cases meant 10 – 15 days before the official release date. If this will be same this time, then we could see the next iPhone model earlier than October as we expected previously.
