Foxconn to use robots in their facilities

Foxconn robots

Apple’s Chinese manufacturing partner is preparing the ground for a new technological revolution. It seems that the management of the company intends to build its robot workforce to an unprecedented level. More than million of these robots will be used in Foxconn plants in the near future.

The project should cost more than $220 million and was announced by the company on Saturday when the CEO of the company appeared on a ceremonial opening of a constructions site for an R&D facility in Taichung on Taiwan.

According to Terry Gou who is the chairman of the corporation announced this is an effort to build an “empire of robots”. Unfortunately this will mean that more than 500 000 workers could be laid off as cheaper and non complaining robots take their places.
