Foxconn employees charged for leaking design details before iPad 2 launch
We have recently heard about a Chinese website reporting on Foxconn pressing charges against a group of their employees for leaking details of the design of recently released iPad 2 tablet. The details caused sitir in Apple as the design was leaked before the official launch of the tablet.
Because of this some retails in China have being able to provide stylized cases for iPad 2 even before the iPad 2 became available to users, which has alarmed the management of Foxconn that someone is leaking informations which prompted them to contact local police force. After a short investigations police was able to identify and arrest few employees which were main suspects in the case. Those employees will be charged for breaching trade secrets laws and could endure significant legal consequences for it if proven guilty.
The protective cases have appeared in December which is almost 4 months earlier than the official launch of Apple’s iPad 2 in March. Leaked details on the tablet design included the change in speakers opening and others. Traditionally Apple is always making a big show when releasing new products. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that they are unhappy when product designs leak before the official release of the product. On the other side we are quite happy to follow rumors about new Apple products before the release. So we hope there will always be some small source of inside information leaks from Apple.
