Steve Jobs, how he stopped informations leaks at Apple

Steve Jobs presenting iPhone

Here is an interesting story about Steve Jobs, a genius who has influenced millions of lives with his grand product ideas and designs like iPod, iPhone and iPad. The story comes from an former Apple employee, John Lilly. The story dates from his return to Apple after many years outside the company he created. He was highly determined to achieve much with Apple, but his team was probably not so enthusiastic as they have been under large pressure during those days.

One of large problems which were endemic were information leaks. Many secrets were trickling out from their headquarters into the public. One of the first things which required immediate attention was to stop this altogether. Steve Jobs sent an email to all employees. And it was first of many such emails which followed later. In this email Steve Jobs explained Apple’s plans on new products and the need for more secure communications, so employees could get better information and know more about what is going on. Basically, he offered his team more knowledge in exchange for their willingness for better security. The email was sent on Thursday. On Monday, four Apple employees have been caught sending confidential data to outside sources. All of them have been fired immediately. Problem solved.

This kind of approach has marked many of Apple’s successes latter on. Cupertino company was able to work in complete silence on innovative products and services, which when once publicly released became a complete success, putting Apple far ahead its competitors. One of the best examples was iPhone. Other phone manufacturer were caught completely off guard with iPhones hardware and software, and they cant even now close the distance behind Apple. So many of Apples victories could be traced back to Steve Jobs solution to information leaks.
