No iPad killer in sight
Samsung, RIM, HP are some of the world class companies which have among others tried to create an iPad “killer”. So far none of them have made any real success, and most of them are simply struggling to capture a very small percentage of the market. According to story published in UK’s Guardian, Samsung has sold only a small number of their Galaxy S tablets, less than 1% of their manufacturing output. We’ve also seen that nobody can really undercut iPad‘s price. On the other hand Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has launched their JetStream Android tablet device which is available for $700 with an AT&T contract. And while the deal is interesting many analysts doubt that it can become a treat for Apple’s overarching dominance.
iPhone model leaked, looks like an iPhone 4 S
As the release date of iPhone 5 is getting closer rumors spread like a wildfire in California, many of them obviously false but some of them looking quite plausible. The picture of this iPhone testing model was posted on Engadget, and it supposedly represents an iPhone prototype codenamed N 94. The story which comes with this photo is a bit long, but essentially it says that this iPhone is the latest testing model of what will become the next iPhone model, known as iPhone 4S. iPhone 4S will be an cheaper version of iPhone 4 which will be targeted towards the enormous large Chinese and Indian market. According to some analysts this model could be launched at the same time as the iPhone 5.
iPhone 5 launch date rumors
Different rumors on various predictions regarding Apple’s latest iPhone model launch are increasingly surfacing as time passes. Latest expectations have been that Apple will release iPhone 5 on 7th September but this rumor was quickly debunked.
There are now some indications that Apple plans to leave the launching event for as late as the beginning of October, perhaps during the first week of the month. The first launch will certainly be held in US as it is traditionally the first market to receive new Apple products. Could the next iPhone be an improved iPhone 4 dubbed as iPhone 4S? Nobody knows for sure. There is even a slight possibility that Apple could release both iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 at the same time, but this isn’t expected really, given the history of Apple product launches, where they have squeezed every ounce of PR and media attention for every new product release.
Cases for iPhone 5 widely available in China
Cases for the upcoming iPhone 5 can be easily found on markets in China right now according to the reports coming from China. It seems that Chinese case manufacturers have somehow gotten the specifics on the iPhone 5 dimensions in anticipation of the release of iPhone 5 which should happen in September. It seems that the price for these cases are really affordable as the cost is only about $0.30 per case, but the downside is that you need to purchase them in large quantities, which means at least a couple of hundreds of them.
Cheap iPhone image leaked?
There were quite many rumors appearing in various Apple related blogs about the alleged cheaper iPhone version nicknamed iPhone Nano, and this time we have a photo of what looks to be just that.
The image you saw above is according to the sources a working prototype of a budget iPhone 4. By itself the picture alone isn’t too much convincing and it simply looks like a white iPhone 4. But according to the source which leaked the image of this iPhone model, it works faster, it’s somewhat lighter than its regular counterpart and uses plastic covers instead of usual ones. The rumor goes on and predicts that Apple will introduce two new models in September. One will be the iPhone 5 and the other model will be this cheap iPhone 4 version.
Pegatron to assemble 15 million iPhones
Apple has apparently filled an order for 15 million iPhone 5 smartphones from their hardware suppliers Pegatron Technology, which is a Taiwan based manufacturing corporation. As you probably know iPhone 5 should be launched in September of this year. If this estimations for release of the new iPhone model are correct, Apple and their partners will have to be really aggressive with their production plans.
iPhone 5 and iPad 3 launch this fall?
A trade magazine based in Taiwan has recently featured a story in which they conclude that Apple could launch iPad 3 in October. The story is apparently based on rumors coming from Asian electronics industry part suppliers. They sources have revealed that Apple is actively searching for suppliers for new iPad version. Same source also said that Apple also seeks fro hardware manufacturers for the next iPhone model, the iPhone 5. Both devices could be made in small series for testing purposes in September.
Apple’s iPhone testing security measures
According to latest rumors Verizon staff received a number of CDMA iPhones only two weeks before its launch on the network. The security was so tight that the personal which received the device for testing purposes weren’t allowed to call it iPhone, instead they were instructed to use a code name: ACME device. Even more, Apple’s security protocols required that the position of every single device was known in every moment during the day all the time during these tests.
iPhone 3GS wont be upgraded to iOS 5?
As the the WWDC comes closer we hear more and more rumors, This time a well known and reputable mobile phone blog in Russia has caused a new wave of rumors. They have said that they have inside confirmation that iPhone 3GS wont be eligible for the next iOS 5. This is what the main editor of this blog said in his Twitter stream: “ iPhone 3GS wont be compatible with the next iOS 5. iPhone 4 will be upgradeable. “
Telecom France reveals: new iPhone to be smaller and thinner
In a recent interview Stephane Richard CEO of France Telecom had with a web portal AllThingsD which is owned by Wall Street Journal has said that the next iPhone will be smaller in size and thinner than the previous models of the popular iPhone. Mr Richard also said that his company is working closely with the Cupertino California company to promote new industry standards for smaller SIM cards. The new Sim card should be even smaller than current iPhone 4 micro Sim card.
