Siri controlling a TV set

Siri controlling tv

After the first Siri hack where a developer successfully controlled his thermostat with a Siri proxy and another one where car could be turned on and off, we have seen another great Siri hack. This time a user was able to control media content on his TV using the same Siri proxy hack. Siri proxy is positioned between your iPhone and Apple’s system, so it can directly receive your voice commands. You can also add additional voice commands independently from Apple.

Voice controlling of TV sets was perhaps one of the goals Steve Jobs had for Siri and the future TV. But please keep in mind: we are not referring to the current Apple TV top box set, but a real TV device. Now it seems that independent developers will develop similar systems based on Siri proxy. This video shows how could the whole setup look like. Basically it is quite simple: you use your new iPhone 4S and a Siri proxy to control a third party app for viewing video content on your TV set. The TV set in the video is connected to a Plex entertainment system. Plex is actually an app which can play your media files and also online content for you.

We find it amazing how easy this works and how fast it actually seems to be. No delays are visible after system receives the Siri command. Could this video show how will future look like? We think the answer is yes. And the future of jailbreak developers seems also to quite bright! Could you imagine all the different tweaks and applications for using Siri in a jailbreak environment?
