Here is a fabulous animation on history of perhaps most revolutionary product of Apple Inc, the iPhone. WinterBoard updated to be compatible with iOS 5
WinterBoard has just being upgraded by Saurik, aka Jay Freeman who happens to be one of the key members of the jailbreak community and developer and maintainer of Cydia app store. If you get WinterBoard you can enjoy in various themes for your iOS. Its popularity stems from the fact that it offers an easy way for creative graphic artist to add their themes into the iOS thus allowing a large number of themes to be used on iPhones. Users can even install a number of themes by simply arranging them in preferred order. WinterBoard is created so it can allow users to use their favourite themes even from older SummerBoard themes which can be imported without any prior modifications. Please note that WinterBoard is much more powerful than SummerBoard. It will even allow any .artwork file to be imported and used without changing its content in a easy way directly form the theme folder.
iPhone 4S compatible with Russian GPS system (GLONASS)
As Apple becomes a dominant superpower in the world of mobile computing, they are increasingly working on deploying systems compatible with local technologies in different parts of the globe. To achieve this they have added an additional layer for navigations needs called GLONASS. GLONASS is a Russian (Soviet actually) global satellite navigation system, the Soviet equivalent of well known GPS. GLONASS represents a radio satellite navigation network owned by Russia and run by Russian Space command. It is a less known and used alternative to US controlled Global Positioning System aka GPS. There are also some other satellite based systems for navigation in development like the Chinese and EU Galileo navigation systems.
Apple updates their Apple TV to 4.4.1
Only a week ago Apple has released their update containing Air Play mirror capabilities. But now they have released an additional update which removes some freshly discovered bugs and adds small technical improvements. This release 4.4.1 was launched today but afterwards it was quickly removed as Apple received some troubling reports on devices completely blocked and disabled due to some unknown bug.
Web OS tablet TouchPad updated with a new release of WebOS
HP has surprisingly to some released a new update fro their mobile operative system, Web OS for what is officially a discontinued tablet device, TouchPad. TouchPad was quickly announced as failed product after initial sales were much lower than management of HP expected. But after the device has been offered for a lucrative price of $99 it was sold out as fast as possible, demonstrating the large unsatisfied global demand for a cheaper tablet device.
Motorola reveals Motoactv, an iPod Nano like device
It seems that these days Apple is so strongly influencing the high tech industry that even their competitors are taking same or similar steps in developing new products and services. Besides companies like HTC and Samsung trying to play the same game with the smartphones and tablet devices, now others are trying to use iPod Nano as an inspiration for their own products. Motorola has just revealed their new device called Motoactv which looks surprisingly similar to Apple’s iPod Nano watch. According to Motorola’s statement, they plan to launch the device very soon. Motoactv will be shipped geared as a normal watch so you wont need to get additional equipment to wear it as a normal watch, like you have to do with the original iPod Nano.
iPhone 4S improvements
Some users tend to dismiss the iPhone 4S as only a limited improvement over iPhone 4. Is this really so? Well the short answer is no. iPhone 4S is indeed quite different as it features a more powerful processor, better antenna design, and one of it’s most interesting features: voice assistant Siri. iPhone 4S also has a redesigned camera, which now uses a 5 lenses system, which is the first time such technology is used in an smartphone.
Four million iPhone 4S devices purchased during the first three days!
Apple has publicly stated that iPhone 4S has already been sold in more than four million units after only three days after the official launch. Tom Cook and his team are obviously quite satisfied with the results achieved so far. And this is indeed a record breaking achievement. No other smartphone was sold in such volume in such short time including previous iPhone models. To compare things a bit, only 2 million iPhone 4 devices were sold during the same initial three days period when it was launched last year. According to Apple, more than 24 million users worldwide enjoy in new features of iOS 5 on their devices. iCloud is another new service offered by Apple, and their statement reveals that they have attracted over 20 million new users enjoying a number of free.
