Pool Party - a new iPhone app for sharing images by Google
Google just launched it latest product stright inot the iOS market. This product was designed by people previously working for Slide, a small startup recently bought by Google. At the time being it is per invitation as it is still in testing phase. With this app you can share your photos with your circle of friends which use this app. It is not clear why exactly Google is offering multiple image sharing platforms, as Picasa and Google + are already doing the same thing. Perhaps Google releases several projects at the same time so users can choose the best one, in a kind of evolutionary struggle between apps?
Pool Party app, as that is the official name of this latest Google app is designed to be simple and intuitive. The user interface isn’t anything spectacular but rather something already seen with other apps. Perhaps Google could do well to employ some hot shot Apple designer. You can create and organize group albums and check out photos of your friends as they appear. We found it interesting that you have to color code names of your contacts. The app is organized through Pools, so you will have to make a Pool before you can add your friends to your group or Pool as it is called in this app.
This app is also available through Google website if you are not using your smartphone at the time being but still want to check what is going on. Push notifications are also available for users relaying on such. There are several ways to send feedback so it is clear that apps designers are still interested in the user feedback, so it can be said that the project is still growing and prone to changes.
Only time will show how will this app compare with other similar services by Google or its competitors like Flickr, Facebook, Instagram or similar.
Here is how the app actually looks like.
