Apple’s iPhone testing security measures

Apple security

According to latest rumors Verizon staff received a number of CDMA iPhones only two weeks before its launch on the network. The security was so tight that the personal which received the device for testing purposes weren’t allowed to call it iPhone, instead they were instructed to use a code name: ACME device. Even more, Apple’s security protocols required that the position of every single device was known in every moment during the day all the time during these tests.

How did they achieve this? Well, the protocol was designed so that every tester had to send a text with a PIN code within every twelve hours. This was an insurance that the device is always in the proper hands. Anyone without the secret PIN code couldn’t use the device at all.

And if the security for iPhone 4 Verizon was so strict for a device which was basically half a year old model we can only imagine how draconian will be the security measures for testing of the upcoming iPhone 5. What do you think about this, do you agree that Apple is going to far? Or is it a necessity? Let us know your opinion on this issue.
