Useful Jailbreak tweaks: Icon Commands

 

Here is a great tweak fro you if you have a jailbroken iOS device. Icon Commands which you can get from Cydia is a freshly developed Cydia tweak created by a developer known under his professional nickname FrozenSun. This tweak enables you to prescribe particular actions to taps on your Springboard.

You can perform special actions depending on how many times you tap on some icon. So if you decide to tap two times on some particular icon and the delete option will appear. There are default actions for this tweak and they include: AppInfo, delete, jiggling, hide etc. Icon Commands can be configured in your Settings app and it allows further customization, or if you are an developer you can develop your own plugins for the tweak!

Jailbreak tweak: Lock Gestures for iPhone

Here is an interesting tweak we just discovered in Cydia. This tweak was made by Tolani Akhil and it’s sole purpose is to allow you take action by doing gestures on your iPhones or iPads lockscreen. LockGestures will enable you to start or stop your music stream, start or close apps, call friends, unlock your device and much more all while your device is screen locked. All you’ll need to do is to perform your specified gesture like; swiping up down, left, right with your finger, pinching gesture with two fingertips or any other touchscreen gesture.

We wrote recently about an iOS map tweak which adds an speedometer to your maps app. And while this is not as precise as a real speedometer it can greatly improve your iOS map capabilities. Now the creator of Speed for Maps, jailbreak app developer Evan Colleman has released another map related tweak: Compass for Maps. Like Speedometer for Maps this is another simple tweak in your toolbox. When you install the tweak, a small compass will appear on your map showing you the exact direction you are moving to.

One of the best map related apps in the smartphone world is the one available in iOS world as a native iOS app. But one of the missing features with it is that it lacks a speedometer. But again thanks to jaiblreaking and jailbreak app developers we have another great solution and improvement. Speed For Maps ia a new jailbreak tweak which is available for all iPhones which are on iOS 4.x.x and solves that problem. When you install this tweak, it will add an indicator for speed in the bottom of the screen when you use the Map app.

If you are heavily using your iPhone to send emails, text messages, social network updates or any similar task, you will have to type fast and precisely. But this isn’t always easy especially with an virtual on screen keyboard we have on our iPhones. So editing typing mistakes is something you’ll have to do quite often, especially if you are an iPhone novice. So far to delete letters or whole words was quite a slow task, as you had to delete only one sign at a time. This doesn’t become faster even if you press and hold the delete button.

This tweak which is called FolderLock is compatible with iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch and it will enable you to lock any or all of your iPhone folders. This basically means that you can easily password protect all your data which is potentially very useful if you have many sensitive informations stored and wouldn’t like some of them to be accessible to your kids.
