iPhone 4 NFC DIY hack
Do desperately need to have NFC available with your iPhone 4? If your answer is yes, here is how to get it but keep in mind it is not for everybody. NFC stands for Near Field Communication and it’s main purpose is processing financial transactions by moving your iPhone near an NFC payment terminal. With this technology you wont need to bother yourself with pin numbers and other trivialities, just move your iPhone close to the terminal and your payment will be processed in a second without you needing to do anything else. NFC will most probably be a standard part of the next iPhone model, the iPhone 5.
Cheap iPhone image leaked?
There were quite many rumors appearing in various Apple related blogs about the alleged cheaper iPhone version nicknamed iPhone Nano, and this time we have a photo of what looks to be just that.
The image you saw above is according to the sources a working prototype of a budget iPhone 4. By itself the picture alone isn’t too much convincing and it simply looks like a white iPhone 4. But according to the source which leaked the image of this iPhone model, it works faster, it’s somewhat lighter than its regular counterpart and uses plastic covers instead of usual ones. The rumor goes on and predicts that Apple will introduce two new models in September. One will be the iPhone 5 and the other model will be this cheap iPhone 4 version.
iPhone as an microscope: CellScope project
After measuring your blood pressure, checking out your eyes for glaucoma and other medical purposes it seems that your iPhone has another medical use. Scientists and engineers at UC Berkeley have constructed a project which will enable capturing microscopic images with your smartphone. Previously the device supported other smartphone devices but now we have the attachment for iPhone 4 available too. In medicine, microscopes are essential for diagnostic purposes and for treatments too. For almost any diagnostic process your doctor will want to check your blood samples, but this isn’t really available in most parts of the world. Because of this, Cellscope project has been developed to assist medical doctors and patients in the third world with world class equipment for analyzing microscopic data.
Gevey sim unlocks iPhone 4 upgraded to iOS 4.3.4
If you are an iPhone 4 owner and you desperately need to use your iPhone out of the country you will be happy to hear that Gevey Sim card supports iPhone 4 iOS 4.3.4 unlock. This was announced immediately after Apple has successfully blocked exploit used by Comex for his jailbreakme jailbreak solution which has jailbroken more than a million of iOS devices including a number of iPad 2 tablets running 4.3.3.
It seems that this time Apple’s engineers didn’t patch the vulnerabilities used by Gevey sim card probably due to relatively low number of iPhone 4 unlocked by this method. Curiously, they haven’t even upgraded the baseband version. This in itself has made this unlock possible.
iPhone comes to China Telecom in November?
A recent report by Reuters claims that China Telecom and Apple have reached an agreement on providing their users with Apple’s iPhone devices and that iPhones should become available as a choice to China Telecom users in November of this year. Until now Chinese mobile users have being offered iPhone only if they were users of another network, the China Unicom carrier which is a smaller network if compared with China Telecom. China Telecom is a state owned corporation and currently has the highest number of users in the country with more than 890 millions of mobile phone subscribers. The company employs more than 300,000 thousand people and serves as much as 110 million mobile phone users.
Apple closes the Gevey Sim hack
If you are an iPhone 4 user you are probably aware that most iPhone 4 devices with upgraded baseband version cant be unlocked with any software tool so far. The only solution for unlocking was the Gevey Sim card interposer. But not any more. As we wrote previously, Apple has just released the iOS 5 beta version 2 which according to iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd has patched the exploit used by Gevey. It isn’t Apple’s usual practice top patch such exploits while still in early beta phase of iOS release so it is quite possible that Apple was under strong pressure by official iPhone carriers.
Million unlocked iPhones on T-Mobile

According to a report by 9-5 Mac blog, T-Mobile spokesperson confirmed that T-Mobile alone serves almost 1 million iPhone users on their network in United States.
iPhone 4 dominates Flickr
iPhone 4 was dubbed as the most widely used camera on the well known photo sharing network Flickr. It has surpassed the second most used camera which is Nikon D-90. This is even more amazing considering that iPhone 4 is available to public for only one year.
And this is not the end of Apple’s glory as the second most used smartphone camera is actually the second Apple device iPhone 3G. Moreover the only smartphone camera on the list of top five that is not an Apple product is the Evo smartphone.
