Adobe flash finally available for iOS
One of the most often heard critics against iOS and Apple products in general is the lack of support of Flash which is practically a standard for delivering various content online. Former CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs is well known by his crusading stance against Flash and its use in iOS citing the problems with security, bugs and battery draining which Flash according to him causes. So it is highly unlikely that Apple will change their anti flash positions in the near future. Of course Adobe is not to happy with this and since they didnt succed in convincing Apple to allow Flash they have decidedly taken another route, that is they have devised a way to deliver Flash content for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

No iPad killer in sight
Samsung, RIM, HP are some of the world class companies which have among others tried to create an iPad “killer”. So far none of them have made any real success, and most of them are simply struggling to capture a very small percentage of the market. According to story published in UK’s Guardian, Samsung has sold only a small number of their Galaxy S tablets, less than 1% of their manufacturing output. We’ve also seen that nobody can really undercut iPad‘s price. On the other hand Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has launched their JetStream Android tablet device which is available for $700 with an AT&T contract. And while the deal is interesting many analysts doubt that it can become a treat for Apple’s overarching dominance.
Amazon prepares a new tablet with a forked version of Android
Amazon has revealed their plans for a new Android tablet device. It seems that this “Kindle” tablet could be the first serious iPad competitor. One of the best moves Amazon will try out is the pricing of this new tablet. According to Tech Crunch, the price should be $250 for a 7” tablet. So far iPad competitors have tried to follow the prices setup by Apple but the demand by customers was very low.
New Sn0wBreeze version released, Windows PC based jailbreak for iOS 5 beta 7 now possible!
We already have a jailbreak for iOS 5 beta 7 which was pushed out by Apple only a couple of days ago, but if you need a carrier unlock you should stay away from RedSn0w. So to solve this iH8sn0w has updated his own jailbreaking software Sn0wbreeze to version 2.8 beta 7 and it is an Windows only application. So if you are a Mac user this wont help you at all. Sn0wbreeze is great because it can preserve you current baseband firmware, which is really important if you need to carrier unlock your device. You can also hacktivate your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS if you don’t have an officially supported Sim Card. After you jailbreak you can also use an Gevey Sim card interposer for the final unlocking or you can use UltraSn0w unlock solution.

Amazon working on a new tablet to compete with iPad
It seems that Amazon is working hard to make their own tablet device which could be launched in September or October of this year according to some sources. Main strength of this device could be it’s low end price, and it could be sold for “hundreds less” than the price of an iPad which is still relatively high at $499. This was a task no company could achieve so far, but Amazon is thought to be one of most serious threats to complete dominance of Apple tablets on the market. As previous history shows, Amazon was more than willing to subsidise the actual costs of their devices like the ubiquitous ebook reader Kindle in order to sell more digital content which is what Amazon at its core is: an content provider.
Samsung uses a movie sequence as an evidence in patent infringement legal battle against Apple
Samsung’s lawyers are becoming increasingly creative as the legal process Apple started against South Korean user electronics manufacturer continues. Now they want to proof that Apple’s ipad design isn’t as original as widely promoted. Apparently there is an scene in a famous science fiction classic 2001: A Space Odyssey where a device similar to what we know today as a tablet is clearly visible. Amazingly this movie was made all the way back in 1968. You can see this scene in the Youtube video bellow.
Dev Team develops jailbreak for iOS 5 beta 6
iPhone Dev Team strikes again! This time they have launched the RedSnow jailbreak for latest beta version of iOS 5 which is version 6.0. It seems that Redsn0w is able to jailbreak all recent firmware upgrades from Apple, although all versions of iOS 5 jailbreak are only tethered, which could be one of the reasons Apple isn’t bothered too much about this.
