iPad 2 jailbreak exploit fixed in iOS 4.3.1 upgrade
Apple has unfortunately patched the exploit which was found by Comex for jailbreak on iPad 2. He has recently showcased his Verizon model of iPad 2 with 4.3 firmware jailbroken and with Cydia installed.
Now Comex has said that Apple has fixed this with the 4.3.1 upgrade. Exploit which Comex has utilized for the jailbreak was actually the same as the one which he used for the famous jailbreakme 2. Apparently Apple has missed this hole in the iOS 4.3 but now they have upgraded and plugged this hole. Comex is well known by his previous jailbreak solutions such as Spirit and JailbreakMe.
Here is a tweet by Comex where he said this.
This means that if you are a proud iPad 2 user you wont be able to jailbreak if you upgrade to 4.3.1 iOS firmware. So it is quite advisable: if you didn’t upgrade to 4.3.1 stay away from it if you care about the jailbreak! If you are lucky and still have 4.3 firmware on your iPad 2 be patient and wait for the jailbreak. Perhaps Comex will release his new JailbreakMe jailbreaking tool in near future. Comex stated that he is unsure whether Apple has accidentally fixed his exploit in the 4.3.1 upgrade or was it a insider leak . The exploit was open in all versions from iOS 4.0.2 up to 4.3 until Apple’s engineers luckily (for them) plugged the hole in the 4.3.1 upgrade.
What do you think about it? Do you care about the jailbreak for your iPad 2? Did you already upgrade to iOS 4.3.1?
