RedSn0w jailbreak for iPhone updated: version 0.9.6 RC12 available now!
Just few days ago we have wrote on our blog that the iPhone Dev Team has released an update to ther RedSn0w jailbreak tool, the version RedSn0w 2.9.6 RC9 , followed quickly by version Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC11 which added an animation option for the boot logo, courtesy of Chronic Dev Team. Dev Team is obviously seariously commmited to providing best and most current options to their software jailbreak and therefore has again upgrade their RedSn0w. You can now download the RedSn0w version 0.9.6 RC12. This upgrade is meant to fix some minor boot animation bugs.
If you need to unlock your iPhone please be warned: if you use RedSn0w it will upgrade your baseband! Instread of using RedSn0w it is best to use Pwnagetools (for Mac computes only) or Sn0wBreeze (for Windowes PC). If you would like to have animated boot logo on your iPhone you can use the Sn0wbreeze 2.5.1 to create the custom firmware and jailbreak your iPhone. Sn0wbreeze works for iPhone iPod and iPad on 4.3.1. It can also jailbreak your Apple TV 2G.
How to jailbreak using Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC12
Please follow the exact steps like described for Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC9. You will need to:
- Download RedSn0w 0.9.6 RC12 Mac version or Windows version.
- Download iPhone 3GS firmware version 4.3.1 for your device.
- Follow the previous instructions for RedSn0w jailbreak here.
If you have already jailbroken your device but you would like to upgrade the jailbreak and have available the latest options including the bootrom logo animation, you can simply re jailbreak again using the most recent version of RedSn0w 0.9.6 RC12. You should only deselect the “Install Cydia” option in order to avoid software package conflicts.
That is all you will have your iPhone or other device jailbroken with the most recent RedSn0w version.
