iPhone 4 unlock for baseband 02.10.04 and 03.10.01
We have just heard that at last some solution is available fro unlockers with iPhone 4 who have upgraded to 02.10.04 and 03.10.01 baseband. The unlock solution comes in the form of Gevey sim unlock and admittedly it worked successfully on 02.10.04 baseband on an iPhone using the T Mobile network in US.
If you didn’t know, the Gevey Sim unlock on iPhone 4 works because it forces the baseband activation by using the emergency dialer. The good news is that this exploit will be vulnerable on the new iOS 4.3 which was released last week by Apple.
In the past Sim unlocks seemed to offer reliable unlocks for iPhone users, although an software solution is preferred because its ease of use and availability of the unlock. Also software based unlock solutions proved to be much more resilient and upgradeable compared with complicated procedures necessary for upgrading Sim card unlock solutions. However there seem to be some legal aspects to this unlock which could prevent its widespread use so this solution is not yet recommended by most developers.
And while the famous iPhone Dev Team is still working hard on a software unlock for this baseband perhaps it would be best to wait for the new unlock which should be based on the NCK crack on iPhone 4 which is by the way also developed by the iPhone Dev Team.

I have an iPhone 4 with BB 03.10.01. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, I have a few questions about this particular solution, since the article left me a bit confused. Is it just like, an actual SIM card? Where can I buy it? Is it hard to unlock the phone using this method?
It’s a so called piggy sim, very thin and you have to place it over your original sim card. There is a company in China who is supposed to produce them, google for Gevey Sim. But the big story behind this is that this unlock solution for iphone 4 is considered to be illegal.

The only solution at this moment is Gevey Sim unlock, but it’s considered illegal.
