iPhone Dev team releases RedSn0w update
As we are nearing the date of iPhone 5 release, iPhone jailbreak devs are busy preparing a jailbreak for the upcoming iOS 5. Their goal is obviously to be ready whenever iOS 5 becomes officially available for downloading. Also like in previous cases, they are always trying to upgrade and improve any and all possible angles of the jailbreaking process. This is one of the main goals of this new RedSn0w upgrade: to make it easier and smoother for anyone to jailbreak. And indeed Redsn0w 0.9.9b1 is introducing many new features. We wrote yesterday about MuscleNerd announcing the release of the improved RedSn0w jailbreak and now it just became available for all iPhone users. Here are new features of this jailrbeak tool according to iPhone Dev team.
- RedSn0w now automatically tests your device for the model information and current firmware.
- Downloads necessary iOS firmware files from Apple’s server and stores it for future use (beta versions of iOS like iOS 5 beta have to be downloaded manually).
- Pwned DFU helps you to do just that: insert your device into “pwned” DFU mode.
- To solve problems with error 1015 you can now use “Recovery Fix” option.
- To download beta versions of iOS you can now use “Select IPSW”
- SHSH Blobs can be manipulated with the option “SHSH blobs”
- “Fetch” will capture your iPhone blobs (please note: the blobs are only partial!)
- “Verify” will check previously saved SHSH blobs whether you have saved them with Cydia or Tiny Umbrella.
- “Submit” You can use this option to upload all saved SHSH blobs to Cydia servers where they wil be kept safe for future use.
- “Query” – searches for SHSH blobs in Cydia
- “Stitch” – will just what its name implies: it will stitch saved blobs (full or partial) to IPSW file (not working for iPhone currently)
One of the best things with this jailbreak is that when you use it first time to jailbreak your device you wont need to download the IPSW files for that firmware anymore: files will be stored on your computer for future use!
You can download RedSn0w 0.9.9b1 here: Mac version and Windows version. For guidelines and instructions on jailbreaking with RedSn0w tool you can check our blog archives.
Please note that RedSN0w is still a tethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4, 4.3.5 and for all iOS 5 beta versions.
