Corona untethered jailbreak, additional informations released

Corona jailbreak

Famous jailbreak developer Pod2g has added some new stuff about his Corona jailbreak on his own personal blog. If you are by some chance interested in how the mechanics of jailbreaking iOS 5.0.1 really functions, you might want to check out his blog.

In his own words: by using a “fuzzer”, he found out after some effort that an vulnerability exists in the sol called racoon config parsing code. If you wonder what racoon actually is: no its not the small hairy mammal, racoon is actually “ IPsec IKE daemon”. It is a part of iOS and it starts up when you begin a Ipsec connection. By the way: the name of this jailbreak – Corona is actually an anagram of racoon.

Corona is a Cydia package, and it is able to provide Apple A4 devices with an untethered jailbreak. To get it you have to first jailbreak your device, as you gain acces to Cydia only on jailbroken devices. Alternatively you can use latest version of RedSn0w which uses the same process for jailbreaking. For more instructions on RedSn0w jailbreak, please check our blog archives.
