Battle of Giants continues

Apple TV

Surprise surprise, Google gets another slap in the face! This time Google is kind of embarrassed by Logitech, which has just decided to cut it ties with Gogle TV, announcing that the project become a full scale failure and that the company will stop making Google TV boxes. CEO of Logitech, Guerrino De Luca said that the dance with Google in this project bared significant costs on the company, and as soon as they sell out all devices in stock, they will stop investing resources into this failed project. Some estimations claim that Logitech invested more than $100 million on this device, a large sum which yielded poor results. There are still some other companies like Sony which still work on Google TV and Apple TV is as strong and stable as ever, although it still didn’t became as large as iPhone or iPad for example.

Apple TV 2 which was initially announced in September of last year, proved as much better and more sought device than the original Apple TV. A simple reason for such success is probably the appearance of other services on Apple TV like Netflix and MLB. More than 2 million Apple TV devices have been sold according to Cupertino company reports.

Another potentially interesting developer was the rumor that Steve Jobs wanted to build a complete TV set as revealed in his recently published biography by Walter Isaacson. Is Apple working silently on something completely new? Can you imagine an Apple TV set controlled only with Siri?
