Apple stores to unlock GSM iPhones?

Apple Store

According to news coming from sources inside Apple Store, Apple stores will soon start offering complete unlock for fully priced GSM iPhone 4 handsets. This unlock should be different than the one offered previously on June 13, according to this source. Here is the reason behind this: if some Apple retail store runs out of available unlocked iPhones, they can use any other locked iPhone and simply unlock it after buyer pays the full price of it at the checkout. The price for the unlocked device us $650 for iPhone 4 16GB and $749 for 32GB iPhone 4 model.

Earlier, Apple’s policies allowed sales of iPhones without a binding contract but the devices were still locked to AT&T network. The price was same, meaning incredibly high. If this news turn out to be true, iPhone users will be allowed to use their devices on international networks. For T-mobile this means that users will need to cut their sim card for it to fit into iPhones smaller micro sim card tray. T-Mobile in USA has more than 1 million iPhone users on their network. There are many more users on different international networks. Lets hope this is true and that iPhone users will be able to buy unlocked devices in Apple Stores. However we wont held our breath, as AT&T and Verizon will surely try to prevent this from occurring.
